Deborah Schlein Obituary

Deborah Ellen "Debbie" Schlein
Deborah Ellen "Debbie" (Dinan) Schlein, age 79, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at St. Vincent's Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Allen Schlein. Born in Bridgeport on November 9, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Dr. H. Philip Dinan Jr. and Dorothy (Flanagan) Dinan. A graduate of St. James Elementary School in Stratford and Laurelton Hall in 1962, Debbie later attended the Bridgeport Hospital School of X-Ray Technology before beginning her long career as an X-Ray Technician at Orthopedic Surgery Associates for over 50 years. She was a longtime member of the Board of Regional Networks and Black Rock Yacht Club, where she built many friendships along the way. Debbie enjoyed cooking for others and loved to host parties and holidays. She traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States with her husband, family and friends. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was found in the time spent surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored above all else. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her beloved husband, Allen, of 47 years, other survivors include her devoted children, Philip Pasmeg, wife Seri of Fairfield, Beth Smith, husband Mel of West Virginia, Nathaniel (Ben) Schlein of Bridgeport, Adam Schlein, wife Taryn of Milford, and her grandchildren, Kelsea Blevins of Kentucky, Philip, Parker and Peyton Pasmeg of Fairfield, and Samuel and Max Schlein of Milford, her great-grandchildren, Serenity and Jaxon Blevins of Kentucky, her siblings, Carol Young of Bridgeport, Bill Gregory of Melbourne, FL, Patti Prusaski and her husband Barney of Satellite Beach, FL, Kathy Ahlberg and her husband Atty. Kurt of Stratford, and Buddy Dinan of Stratford, as well as many special nieces and nephews. Debbie was predeceased by her sister MaryLou Catalano and husband, Hugh, her father's second wife, Pat (Ahma) Dinan, and sister, Nancy Esposito.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 860 Howard Ave., New Haven, CT 06519, or Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 74 Batterson Park Rd., Farmington, CT 06032. My condolences to the Schlein Family.
I was fortunate enough to know Debbie since our years at Lauralton. So glad we were able to get together at our class reunions and visits to New York over the years. She always had a great sense of dry humor that will be missed.
Rest in peace, dear friend.

Alan & Family, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Debbie. What a dear sweet person and I recall always enjoying being in her company. Debbie, Alan & I worked together many years ago and I recall when you two first met. May Debbie's memory remain in this world as the sweet & kind person she was & for a blessing.
