Dennis J. Kaputa
Dennis J. Kaputa, age 71, lifelong resident of Stratford, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, after a brief and complicated battle with cancer. Dennis was born in Bridgeport on April 30, 1954, to the late John O. Kaputa Jr., and Mary (Hmil) Kaputa. He was a graduate of Stratford High School, class of 1972, and earned a BA in Music Education from the University of Bridgeport. Despite his devotion to music, Dennis pursued a career first in electrical contracting, owning and operating Stratford Electric. After many years, he proudly transitioned to DJK Development, LLC where his construction talent truly came to life. When he wasn't working, he dedicated much of his time to The American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport, where he was a lifetime member, and currently served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors. In addition to the board, he was a member of the Male Chorus, Choir, Senior "R" Club, and served the church in many other capacities, especially in the kitchen. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of St. John's Cemetery Inc, and the treasurer of the ARS Society. Dennis was a wealth of knowledge, "jack of all trades", and always willing to drop everything to help a friend. Of all the titles he held, "Dzedo" to his two grandsons was his proudest by far. They were the light of his life and carry on his fiery spirit, mile-wide smile, and unforgettable laugh. Survivors include his beloved daughter, Natasha Valenti and her husband BJ of Bethany, cherished grandsons, Teddy and Tanner, devoted brother, David Kaputa of Shelton, aunt, Carole Kaputa, and dear chosen family, the Switsers, as well as several cousins. Visitation on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Panachida at 4:30 p.m. A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25th at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. John's Church, 364 Mill Hill Avenue, Bridgeport.
