Diane Dunn Obituary

Diane Larson Dunn
Diane Larson Dunn, kind-hearted, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed peacefully at the age of 75 in her home in Trumbull, CT, surrounded by her family.
Diane was born to parents, Olive and Herbert Larson in Brooklyn, New York in 1946. A true New Yorker, Diane loved beach days at Breezy Point. She graduated high school in 1964 in Brooklyn, NY, where she also went on to attend Heffley and Brown Secretarial School. She started her career as a legal secretary at Kirlin, Campbell & Keating, a Maritime Law Firm in the financial district in Manhattan.
In 1967 Diane ventured to a wedding in Connecticut where she met the love of her life and future Husband Jim Dunn. They immediately hit it off and were married 2 years later. She was happily welcomed into his large Irish family, however, she remained very proud of her Swedish heritage. They raised a family together and created a home where the door was always open to family and friends.
Diane was fun, interesting, loving, charismatic, and kind. She could be found whipping up her world-famous coleslaw in the kitchen or lunching with her gal pals of 40+ years. She was an active member of her community in Trumbull for many years. Along with many of her friends, she was a member of a women's civic group.
Above all else, Diane held her children dearest. This includes her three children and eight grandchildren. She loved family vacations to Cape Cod, Lake George in the Adirondacks, and many adventures to visit family and friends in Ireland. She loved sharing holidays with her extended family and in-laws. She never showed up empty handed and never had a bad word to say about anyone.
Diane loved The Beatles, Irish music, and catching up on the dramas of The Days of our Lives.
Diane was predeceased by her best friend and husband, Jim Dunn, in 2010. Diane is survived by her children and their spouses: James and Tracy Dunn, Alison and Michael O'Connor, and John and Jessica Dunn; and by her greatest loves her grandchildren, Christopher, Jake, Larson, Eoin, Nuala, Clover, Arden and Navy. She will also be sorely missed by her dearest friend of 58 years, Christine Hoganmiller.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10:30 AM in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Darien, CT. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Diane's memory to the Umbrella Club, a Fairfield country nonprofit origination that the Dunn family supports. We remember when Diane and Jim moved to 300 Stonehouse Road. We spotted them as they were walking down Tashua Lane and were so happy a young family would be living down the street from us. We quickly became friends and had many wonderful times with them and their children. Jamie, Allison and John.
One summer we got together in Wellfleet , Cape Cod. We had so much fun at the beach and enjoyed a
delicious meatball and spaghetti dinner that Diane prepared. Diane, as well as Jim, were true friends, kind, helpful and dependable. Glad they were apart of our lives.

I have many wonderful memories of my cousin Diane. Although our family´s lived an hour apart, we always made time to see each other on holidays and family vacations to Lake Hopatcong NJ or Lake George New York. Especially memorable were the family Christmas Day diners at the Larson´s in Brooklyn New York. A memorable event during college was an unexpected literal chance meeting in 1964 at the World´s Fair, after attending a New York Mets game, when I ran into Diane and a friend......what are the chances? Over the years as a Military Dentist and, although separated by states or Continents, our families stayed in touch and shared the joys of raising our children. Memories of barbeques at the Dunn s with Diane and Jim and their children James Alison and John along with visits to Mystic Conn when stationed at Newport and Groton always bring a sense of joy. Whether just visiting, sharing a card, attending Dunn weddings, or just talking on the phone, Diane always was a delight and brought back wonderful memories of our families and lives. Rest in peace dear cousin.

I am deeply saddened to learn of Diane's passing. I knew her,her late husband Jim, and her family from the GAC in Fairfield. My sincere condolences to her family, and her many friends--she will indeed be dearly missed.
