Diane Dutton Obituary

Diane Barnum Dutton
1965-2022
Diane Marie Barnum Dutton, age 57, passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on July 7th 2022 after a tough battle with colon cancer.
Diane was born on February 9th, 1965 in Bridgeport, CT. She was a graduate of Bassick Highschool and went on to get her associates degree at Katherine Gibbs School in Norwalk, CT. It was in Bridgeport, CT that she started her family. She moved to Trumbull when the kids were a bit older, then eventually to Falmouth, MA the year before she passed.
Diane was a creative soul who loved making things for her children and friends. In 2019, she took this passion, along with her husband's handy woodworking skills, to start a wood sign making business called Knotty by Nature Designs. She put all of her energy and love into making beautiful signs for many occasions that were loved by all who received them.
She is survived by her 4 children, Melanie Randell Perkins (30), Jordan Leigh Guerin (30), Stephanie Nicole Guerin (27), and Richard Wayne Guerin (24), husband Bruce Dutton, mother Kathleen Barnum, father Norman Barnum, step mother Pamela Barnum, and 3 siblings Norman Barnum, Lisa Barnum, and Dennis Barnum.
Diane was diagnosed in Nov 2020 with Stage IV Colon Cancer. Despite this news, Diane remained a bright light, pushing on with her usual grace and positivity. She leaned on her loving friends, family, and community during this time. Her daughter Stephanie got married in April of 2022, and although it was not easy for her, Diane did everything she could to make sure she could be there for this special day. It was an absolutely beautiful celebration that her family will cherish forever.
Diane will be remembered for her kindness to others, her patience, and her calming presence. She was an extremely proud mother who would do anything for her children. She gave them everything she had, and then some.
Private services will be held for immediate family members.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The team at Dana-Farber worked tirelessly to support Diane through her disease. Please follow this link to make a donation: www.dana-farber.org/giftt.

Knowing Diane´s daughters over the past few years, and observing the kind of women they are, I can tell how strong of a mother Diane was. It pains me to think of Diane´s girls becoming mothers without her, but I know that her energy will shine through them, and the memories of her will live forever.
