Edith Benne Obituary
Benne, Edith M. Skinner Benne, age 94, of Shelton, beloved wife of the late Stephen Benne Jr., passed away peacefully on October 19, 2018 in Bishop Wicke Health and Rehabilitation Center with her loving family by her side. Edith was born on May 30, 1924 in Stratford and was the daughter of the late Walter and Annie Skinner. She was employed by Norden's as an assembler for 25 years; she was a member of the Norden's Retiree Club, Norden's Quarter Century club, National Slovak, Society the ladies guild of St. Mark Church and the Shelton Senior Center. She is survived by two sons, Stephen "Sandy" Benne of Maine and Thomas Benne and wife Paula of Maine, two daughters, Linda Cahill and husband Norman of Oxford and Barbara Kovac and husband Joseph III of Stratford, four grandchildren, Christine McCrystal, Thomas Poirer and wife Kim, Joseph Kovac IV and wife Amy and Lisa Christoffersen and husband Brian, six great grandchildren, Brianne, Nicolette, Jillian, Mia, Joseph V and Tyler and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her beloved husband Stephen, Edith was also predeceased by one brother, James Taylor and one son-in-law, Thomas Poirer. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Birendra Soreng. Interment will follow in Lawn Cemetery Shelton.
