Edward Gorman Obituary

GORMAN Edward H. Gorman Jr., age 61, of Stratford, beloved husband of Barbara (Majersky) Gorman, died on Saturday, December 6, 2003, at Yale- New Haven Hospital. Born in Bridgeport to the late Edward H. and Catherine (Dillon) Gorman, he had been a Stratford resident for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy and the Naval Reserves during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. Mr. Gorman was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was the former postmaster in Easton. He had also worked in the Stratford Post Office prior to his retirement. After retiring, he worked for the Durham Bus Company. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a die-hard New York Giants fan. He had coached various Pop Warner football teams in Stratford for 31 years, including the Stratford Eagles, the Stratford Lions and the Redskins. He had also coached baseball in the Harry Russell League. Ed was a devoted family man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren and will be remembered for his spirited personality. He also loved playing cards. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved daughter, Lisa Gorman of Stratford; and his beloved son, Edward H. Gorman III and his wife, Yenny, of West Haven; one brother, Daniel Gorman and his wife, Donna, of Scranton, Pa.; an aunt, Mary Morgan and her husband, Frank, of Illinois; his cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Alexandra; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 9:15 a.m. in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in Union Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (TODAY) from 4 to 8 p.m.
