Edwin Locke Obituary
Dr. Edwin A. Locke passed away on February 22 after a short illness. He was 88.
Dr. Locke was a lifelong resident of the Bridgeport area. He was born on Herkimer Street, grew up on Dixon Street, and finished high school at the University School. He received his BA degree from the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado and a DDS from the University of Missouri Dental School in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dr. Locke entered the practice of dentistry with his father in 1949. From 1949 until 1968, he maintained an office on Lafayette Avenue. From 1968 until the time he retired in 1991, he practiced dentistry at his offices on Wood Avenue.
Dr. Locke was an avid golfer and stamp collector. He was a member of several local and national philatelic clubs. He was very active in the Bridgeport Dental Association, and held several key leadership positions, including the office of president, during the 1960s and 1970s. He was also a member of the Connecticut State Dental Association, from which he received an award for his excellence in dentistry.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Evelyn Tower Locke; his 4 children, Paul, Jessica Richer, Andra Jamieson and Fred; their spouses, Elizabeth, Alan, Greg and Michele; and 8 grandchildren, Rachel, Isaac, Bryan, Elijah, Jacob, Alexandra, Megan and Emily.
Services will take place on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Congregation B'nai Israel, 2710 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, with interment following at B'nai Israel Cemetery on Kings Highway in Fairfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Dr. Locke's memory be made to Congregation B'nai Israel, 2710 Park Avenue, Bridgeport, CT, 06606.

Evelyn, As you know I only just heard yesterday when I called you of Eds passing. You two were the talk of the gym every time I trained you. Ed always made me laugh and you too as I remember. He will be missed greatly. Please visit me at the gym if you are ever back in Connecticut.
