Eugene Paraska Obituary

PARASKA Eugene ( Gene ) Paraska, age 68, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Jeanette Poidomani Paraska, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Scranton , PA , son to the late John and Mary Enkulenko Paraska, Gene was a Fairfield Town resident for most of his life. A graduate of Andrew Warde High School , Class of 1962, he went on to work for RCA Service Company as a technician, sales manager and service manager for thirteen years before founding his family business, American Cable Electronic Services. A longtime parishioner of the former Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church of Bridgeport, Gene was faithful member and willing volunteer for the Church Bazaars and many other functions. He also belonged to the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers and the Electronic Technician Association. He enjoyed travel, the water, boating and fishing, steam trains and spending time with his family. Gene especially loved the adventures with his cherished grandchildren to introduce to them new experiences and wonders of life and seeing and sharing their joy. A loving husband, to Jeanette, his high school sweetheart and devoted wife of 49 years, with whom through the years spent the many phases of their lives growing, loving and supporting each other as life presented itself. Sharing family life as well as professional lives, together. His son E.J. feels so fortunate to have had such a close relationship and great dad he enjoyed as a child and as an adult daily working side by side with him in their business. Gene 's also will be greatly missed by all his extended family, his personal friends, professional and business associates, vendors, customers, and employees, who will miss his warm smile, sense of humor, and "can do" attitude. Gene had a great love for all God's creatures fed the birds and most recently taking in the feral cats that chose his yard for their home. Gene 's survivors include his devoted wife, Jeanette, son, E J Paraska II, and his wife Michele, his grandchildren Angela and Eugene (Trey) Paraska III, all of Fairfield , sisters in law Dee Mazas, Arlene Boyhan and Debra LaRose and her husband Craig. As well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, John Paraska. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:15am in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd. , Fairfield Center and at 11am in Holy Cross Church , Tahmore Dr. , Fairfield with burial to follow in Mt. Jeannette, and family, I am so sorry to hear of Gene's passing. I know he will be truly missed by all of your family and friends. It was always nice to see you at the bank where I worked, you were all my nicest customers, and Gene would often have a joke, or funny situation to tell of. Try to remember the good times you all had together, and be assured, he is watching over you from Heaven. God Bless.

We shared a lot of laughter with Gene, and loved hearing about his bus trips with Jeanette and how much he enjoyed them. He always spoke of his family with so much love and pride. His death leaves a void in every life he touched. Our hearts ache for his family and extend to them our deepest sympathies.

Aunt Jeanette, EJ and family,

I am truly saddened by the loss of Uncle Gene. I know that we haven't seen much of each other over the last few years, but you were always in my thoughts.
The one thing that I will always remember about Uncle Gene was his laugh. It was a great laugh, so full of joy and his love of life.
Our prayers are with you.

Love,

Danielle, Stephen, Gabrielle, Nathan and Jackson

Jeanette, EJ and Michelle -- I'm so sorry for your loss. I very much enjoyed EJs trips to Maryland and the times we got together with his Dad.
He was always interesting to talk to and I've always admired the strong family bond he impressed on EJ. You're all very blessed to have had Gene in your lives. I know he'll be missed but I also know your lives will forever be shaped by Gene, and his wonderful spirit, and his love.
Our prayers and thoughts are with you & your family at this difficult time.
Love,
Chris Tyler, Michael C. & family.

Dear Jeanette and EJ:
Gene was one of the most helpful, generous people I knew. When my son organized a food and clothing drive for his Eagle Scout project, Gene and Jeanette came with a car jam-packed with donations, and warm words of encouragement.

I will miss him a lot.
