Florence Carroll Obituary

CARROLL Florence Herting Carroll, age 95, of Bradenton, Fla., and formerly of Seaside Court, Milford, died on Friday, April 16, 2004, in Bradenton. She was the widow of Joseph G. Carroll. She was born in New Britain, Conn., on February 2, 1909, to the late Theodore and Ernestine Herting. A graduate of Milford High School, Mrs. Carroll earned a BS degree in dietary sciences at the Pratt Institute, New York City. She was the dietician at Milford Hospital, retiring in 1972. She also spent two years from 1962-1964 in the Peace Corps, serving in Malaysia and Borneo. She was predeceased by a son, Howard G. Carroll; her sisters, Hazel Stevens, Edythe Herting, Ruth Baldwin and Margaret Fenwick; and her brother, William Herting. She was also predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Kylene L. Carroll. Survivors include her son, Peter and his wife, Florence, of Milford; and grandchildren, Chris Carroll and his wife, Debby, Shawn Carroll, Colleen Noyes and her husband, George, all of Milford, and Stacie DiNello and her husband, Michael, of North Haven. Her great-grandchildren include Kelly Purcell and her husband, James, Kerrie Carroll and her fiancé, Jerry Payne, Katie Carroll, William Carroll, Brianna DiNello, Peter DiNello and Fiona and Eleanor Noyes; and a great-great-grandson, David Payne. She also leaves a special niece, Faith Mocker of Florida, among many other nieces and nephews. A memorial funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at St. Mary's Church, Gulf Street, Milford. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Carroll's name to the Boys & Girls Village, 528 Wheelers Farms Road, Milford, CT 06460.
