Flori Hess Weichsel

WEICHSEL Flori Hess Weichsel, age 93, of West Hartford, died Wednesday, November 8, 2006. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest Weichsel. Born in Wetter, Germany she was the daughter of David and Freida Hess. She was forced to flee Nazi Germany and came to the United States in September of 1941 with her son Helmut (Harry). For more than 50 years, she, Ernest and Harry were the proud owners of a ladies clothing business Fashions on Wheels which later became the Showcase on East Main Street in Bridgeport. She was an entrepreneur and a woman ahead of her time. For more than 30 years, she and Ernest proudly serviced thousands of customers in the Greater Bridgeport Area. In 1973 they retired to Florida where they enjoyed time with family and friends. Flori returned to Connecticut in 2001 to be closer to her children, grandchildren and their families. Flori was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an inspiration to family and friends alike and will be sorely missed. She is survived by an adoring son, Harry Weichsel of Bridgeport, and Eva W, Hausman and her husband, Irwin of Simsbury; eight cherished grandchildren, Lauren Finn and her husband, George of Bridgewater, New Jersey, Donna Allen and Caron Keim of Park City, Utah Kim Hausman Athan and her husband, Tom of Cos Cob, Lisa Hausman Davison and her husband, Doug of Bethesda, Md. and David, Kaitlyn and Billy Weichsel of California; several devoted nieces and nephews; and nine great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of determination and compassion .The family wishes to thank Flori's personal caregiver, Yaa Afriye for her exceptional loving care, as well as Winklet Smaill for her love and commitment to Mom. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from The Abraham L Green and Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road Fairfield. Burial will take place at the Unity ClubCemetery on Reid St. in Fairfield. Friends may call at the home of Harry Weichsel in Bridgeport on Friday following the services through Friday evening. Family and friends are welcome at the home of Eva and Irwin Hausman inWest Simsbury, CT on Saturday evening.
