Frederick Castaldo Obituary

Frederick M. Castaldo, Jr.
Frederick M. Castaldo, Jr., age 50, of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in St. Vincent's Medical Center. Fred was born in Bridgeport, beloved son of Irene (Cookie) Castaldo and the late Frederick M. Castldo, Sr. He attended Notre Dame High School and was employed by the City of Bridgeport Public Works Department. Fred was an Altar Boy at St. Theresa Church until he grew taller than the priests. He loved going to the Bridgeport Elks Lodge #36 with his father, eventually becoming an Elk, rising to the post of Exulted Ruler of Lodge #36. Fred enjoyed being in the kitchen for St. Patrick's Day celebrations and learned from his dad to brown the sausages and serve up a pasta night celebration at Lake Forest Club House. He also worked some church family picnics at St. Andrew Church. Growing up in Lake Forest, Fred thought every kid had a lake in their neighborhood. He loved fishing, trips to Maryland with friends, big trucks, big dogs, snowstorms, pizza and nachos. In addition to his mother, he is survived by three uncles, Peter Jarzynski and his wife Aunt Teri, Michael Jarzynski and his wife Aunt Marianne, and Tommy Castaldo and his wife Aunt Elaine, cousins Jeffrey, Christopher, Jamie and Julie Jarzynski and Elisa Castaldo Falanga and let's not forget Oliver the Frenchie. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m., meeting directly in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton Street, Bridgeport, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, Stratford. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., in the Redgate - Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and 4 Gorham Place, Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Andrew Church. To send online condolences please visit www,redgatehennessy.com

Cookie we are so very sorry for your lost.

When I think of Fred girls were younger at the lake played together all day a big red with them up every time ice cream man and ice cream. Big Fred would carry Nikki up and Meliss and Fred would race to the stairs. I always wanted the same exact thing. Why did we laugh?

When he got much older, we were all set at the edge of the beach. When he would lay on his stomach and Cassidy right on his back. Up and down up and down he was saying my back is killing me. I´m tired. I would say Cassidy get off give him a break. And God bless him. He was saying no it´s OK when she´s done. She´s done. Cassidy really loved getting the attention. I would call him the gentle giant. Will never forget the days at the lake staying there for morning till Tusk. Good times. Rest in peace Fred. Hugs and love Cookie. The Taylors.
