Garrick "Garry" Robert Grossman
Garrick "Garry" Robert Grossman, age 81, of Trumbull, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Born on December 23, 1943, in Norwalk, Connecticut, to Paul R. Grossman and Eleanore Grossman (née Garrick), Garry lived a life defined by curiosity, kindness, humor, and a deep appreciation for adventure.
A proud graduate of Case Western Reserve University, Garry earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1967, followed by a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance. He began his professional journey at U.S. Electrical Motors, where he met the love of his life, Gay Greer. The two were married aboard the historic Sabino boat in Mystic in 1982 - a fitting setting for a couple whose happiest moments were often found on the water.
That same year, Garry founded Print & Post Services in Bridgeport, which offered mailing and printing services. Gay and Garry worked side by side to build the business.
Garry was always funny - his presence brought laughter and banter to every gathering.
He also loved tinkering and creating. Often, he could be found in his basement shop, happily building or fixing something out of the most unexpected scraps. His basement shop was legendary, stocked with more tools than Home Depot.
He had a lifelong love of competitive sports - swimming, skiing, and especially handball - and was known for organizing handball tournaments throughout the Northeast. He never met a Budaball ham he didn't love, and it became a family tradition for Garry to prepare and bring it to holiday gatherings. Garry even had his own secret sauce for basting the ham - a closely guarded recipe.
Garry and Gay also loved to travel, with some of their most cherished trips taking them to Ireland, France, and Italy.
Most of all, Garry found peace and purpose at sea. An avid sailor, his happiest days were spent aboard his beloved boats, Pegasus and Bounder, which were docked in Mystic. He and Gay spent weekends on the water, often accompanied by close friends. Even though Garry had no children of his own, he delighted in sharing his love of sailing with his nieces and nephews - sometimes with as many as five young ones aboard at once. Affectionately known as "Uncle No Hairy", he joined them in their adventures, creating memories that remain a lasting reflection of his understated and loving nature.
Garry is survived by his devoted wife, Gay Greer Grossman; his sisters, Nancy (Donald) Koliha and Cynthia Grossman; and his beloved nieces and nephews - Molly (Michael) Chartier, Heather (Gregory) Mokotoff, Andrew (Beth) Paul, Casey (Heidi) Paul, Samuel (Sarah) Chartier, Taylor (Jeremy) Balisciano, and Morgan Greer - all of whom adored their Uncle Garry. He is survived by other extended family and many friends.
A private graveside service at Milford Historic Cemetery will be held for the family. A celebration of Garry's life, filled with stories, laughter, and love, will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation in Garry's name to a
charity of choice.
Fair winds, Garry. You will always be our captain.
