George Haschak Obituary

George Haschak
October 7, 1942 - May 10, 2025
Naugatuck - George "Billy" Haschak, 82, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at UCONN Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Josephine (Macaluso) Haschak, who passed away in February of this year.
Billy was born on October 7, 1942, in Bridgeport, CT, the son of the late George and Evelyn (Brelsford) Haschak and the stepson of the late Francis (Russet) Haschak. He proudly served his country in the National Guard and was a Meter Reader for the Southern CT Gas Co. until his retirement. During his life, he and Josie would enjoy playing bingo, trips to Foxwoods Casino with the Senior Center of Naugatuck, as well as bus trips to Turning Stone Casino in upstate NY. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and never missed a game. Billy and his family even made it to the stadium a few times to catch a game in person. He loved old western movies, scratch-off lottery tickets, and long rides in the car, and stopping off for lunch along the way. In his younger days, Billy was always there for his children, whether it be attending Little League games, Boy Scout camp, band/choir concerts, playing ball outside, bike riding, fishing, going to the park or beach, or just spending time with them. His attentiveness, support, and love carried on throughout his and their whole lives. His children are grateful and blessed to have had such an awesome Dad!!
Billy is survived by his children, David Haschak (Dina) and Donna Shamer (Dean); his granddaughters, Brooke and Isabella. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy Feltovic, sister-in-law, Annette Macaluso, brother-in-law, Anthony Macaluso, and several nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
The Haschak/Shamer families would like to give a special thank you to the ER and ICU doctors and nurses at UCONN Medical Center. They went above and beyond with their compassionate care and expertise. Thank you for your comfort and empathy during our Dad's time with you.
