George Mandell Obituary
George P. Mandell, 85, of Shelton, CT, passed peacefully, in his sleep, after a long illness, on October 12, 2025. George was born in Bridgeport on August 23, 1940, to the late William and Louise Mandell, the seventh of eight children. He graduated from Warren Harding High School in Bridgeport, where he played on the football team and sang in the chorus. He served in the Army Reserves for six years. George was the former Deputy Grand Knight, and 3rd Degree Knight at Knights of Columbus Council 16 in Bridgeport. He retired from Chapin and Bangs, where he was a steel worker. George loved and cherished his family above everything else. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ann Small Mandell, his children, George P. Mandell, Jr. and his wife, Terese, Lydia Mandell and her husband, David Orloff, and his grandchildren, Jessica Mandell and George P. Mandell, III as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Mandell, three brothers and four sisters. A Burial Service will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 10:00am at St. Johns Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Rd., Monroe, CT. Friends and family are welcome to attend.

Rest in peace, old friend. I find it hard to believe it has been more than 62 years since I last saw you, when I had the honor of serving as a groomsman at your and Ann's wedding. Although I never returned to Bridgeport after joining the Navy, I did think of you over the years, and hoped life had been good to you. Very pleased to read that was the case. I've many fond memories of times spent with you. You were a great guy! My sincerest condolences to Ann and your family. God Bless.
