Gregory Gorton Obituary

Gregory Thomas Gorton
Gregory Thomas Gorton, age 61, of Stratford, passed away Thursday, December 4th in his home surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was beloved husband of Carmen Drisdelle Gorton and devoted father of Stephen and Monica Gorton (Alex Rosado). Born in Bridgeport, CT on November 4, 1964, he was the son of Eugene (Fred) and Anita Gorton. He was a graduate of Trumbull H.S. (Tri-captain of the football team) and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Sacred Heart University. He held various positions in the construction equipment rental industry, including Branch Manager of NES Rentals in New Haven. He was employed as a manager in the masonry division of O&G Industries in Stamford prior to his illness. Greg had a kind heart and was well-loved by many, as evidenced by the numerous family members, friends, and co-workers who continually reached out to support him during his difficult journey, for which he was so grateful. He was a man of faith which sustained him during the past 18 months. He loved to be on or near the water; on the Sound fishing aboard the Eleven Brothers, and on vacations with his family to Shediac, New Brunswick Canada; St. Pete Beach, Florida; and Narragansett, Rhode Island. An Uncle Greg fish fry was a popular event among his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his mother, Anita Gorton and siblings: Eugene (Debbie), Bryon (Peggy), Glenn (Maryanne), Nancy, Gary (Ann), Dean (Judy), Scott (Carolyn), Jeff (Karen), and Keith (Jung) Gorton, as well as many nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Eugene and brothers Ronald and Wayne Gorton.
Friends are invited to meet directly at St. Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, CT on Saturday, December 13th at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial followed by burial in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull, CT. Visitation will take place 4-7 p.m. on Friday, December 12th at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. in Trumbull, CT. His family would like to thank the caring home hospice staff of Compassus. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Project Purple (www.projectpurple.org), supporting pancreatic cancer patients and research or Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org) supporting military and first responder families. First my thoughts go out to Carmen, Stephen & Monica. I worked with Greg at NES Rentals for several years. Greg was one of the nicest guys you ever want to meet. He had a big heart and loved his family. I was sad when he called me to tell me he had cancer and more sad now. I know he is no longer suffering but it doesn't make it easier for his family and friends. Greg you will be missed.
