Herman Castillo Obituary

CASTILLO Herman W. Castillo, age 60 of Danbury, passed away suddenly on February 1, 2011 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. His memory will be cherished by his family including four children, Jason, Joseph, and Jacob Castillo, all of Missouri, and Delia Castillo of Arizona; one granddaughter, Selma Castillo; his father, Pedro Castillo of New York City; four brothers, Roberto, Wilfredo, and Nelson Castillo, all of New York City, and Edwin Castillo of New Mexico; one niece, Rachel Castillo of New York City; one nephew, Robert Castillo of Florida; Herman's dear friend and loving companion, Mary Servilla of Fairfield; and the many people throughout his life who came to know Herman as their warm, caring friend. He was predeceased by his mother, Dominga Carrasco Castillo, and brother, Sargeant Richard Castillo (USAF Ret.). Born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, his family moved to New York City, where he was raised. He proudly served in the United States Army for 15 years, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a decorated sargeant at the end of his military career. He lived in Missouri and New Mexico before relocating to Connecticut 11 years ago. Herman was a radiology techician for several area hospitals, primarily St. Vincent's Medical Center. He valued the opportunity to work with his fellow St. Vincent's staff members as they cared for those in medical need, and had been a member of both the American Society of Radiological Techno-logists and the American Registry of Radiological Technologist. Herman possessed a real passion for life, enjoyed a very diverse taste of music, and was an avid fan of all New York sports teams. He was delighted when spending his time with his family and friends, especially if it included stunt kite flying, photography, or cooking. He will be greatly missed by those he loved, and loved him in return. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday (February 9th) from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m..
