Dear Matchett Family: I just read about your Mom/Grandmother's death today when I visited my parents in New Haven. I temped for your mom for a few months in 1994. I did a few assignments, and then she sent me to a company in Branford where I ended up working for almost 5 years, the start of a new career for me. I only lasted a few days at the first assignment she sent me on, but she didn't give up and sent me on others, and because of that assignment in Branford I have had a successful career in a field I only learned of due to that assignment. She was a wondeful woman, and you all have my sympathies as I can only imagine how much you will miss her.

There are few people you meet in your life that make a lasting impression. Jackie did just that with me! I have been in the staffing business for over 20 years and Jackie was there from the beginning. She was a powerful, successful and kind individual. The staffing business can not be thought of without bringing up Jackie Matchett. Jackie and I spent many client meetings on opposite sides of the table, but at the end of the day we stood for the same thing. Ethics first! I will miss her smile, jokes and fun sense of humor. You will always be remembered as the staffing pioneer of Connecticut. You were and always will be the BEST IN THE INDUSTRY!!! Love, Theresa DelVecchio

Grandma,
Your kind smile lives on in all of us,
Your jokes at a table are always a must,
I'm sorry i didn't get so much time,
But I can say, you were always mine,
Your personality was its own unique design,
As i'm writing this now, i just got your sign,
I know you are still lingering around,
Even if you do so without a sound,
Grandma I love you with all my heart,
And even death can't keep us apart.

Words cannot describe the loss of Jackie. We were fortunate to meet Jackie over 30 years ago when she extended her kindness to us; Jackie was class through and through. We were lucky to have worked for Jackie for many wonderful years. Everyone knew and respected her & her business. Going out socially with Jackie was like going out with a rock star, everyone came over to say hello! She was a class act and her shoes can never be filled. Going to work was a joy and we'll never forget the great times we had with you as the best boss and friend ever! There will only be ONE JACKIE MATCHETT...thank you Jackie.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to your family.

Jackie was a wonderful friend and mentor to me and an inspiration to all who met her. Her spirit and enthusiasm spread to all around her. Always put together so well and immaculate, her off-color jokes always had even more impact because you never expected them from her. And even in her 70's, no one was exempt from her beauty and charm - least of all four of my male colleagues who, when she met me for lunch, crowded around asking, "Who is she???"

Jackie, I will miss you, my husband will miss you, my children will miss their "grandfriend", but we will have a wealth of memories to hold onto forever.

With love always, Sheri, Brian, Amanda & Keira Valaitis

It is with great sorrow that I am writing this. I met Jackie when she brought Donna to tour Salve many years ago. I fell in love with her instantly. So classy. Her family became my family. I know she is at peace and in no pain and having a great time seeing all her loved ones again and seeing the face of God.

To Donna, Jeff, Wendy and each of your children, we too will miss Jackie's wonderful smile, her honesty and her loving and caring personality. She made us feel like part of your family. We will always have wonderful memories of our many times together and the love she shared with each of us. Life presented her with many challenges and she met all of them with tenacity and grace under difficult circumstance. Hers was a life well lived.

I live in Massachusetts and still read the Post on line daily. I am so sorry to learn of Jackie's passing. She was an amazing woman who had such personality and class. As a kid, I remember her as the beautiful lady who jogged around our neighborhood. As I grew older, I have so many fond memories of socializing with her. One very distinctive memory was attendance at a Gart Brooks concert with her, family and friends! She had such spirit, spunk and endurance. God bless! My sincere sympathy to Jeff and the family! May she be in peace! Love, Moira
