James Battistelli Obituary

James J. Battistelli Sr.
James J. Battistelli, Sr., age 79, of Trumbull, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Mary-Josephine (Dzurik) Battistelli. Born in Bridgeport on January 3, 1946, he was a son of the late Mario G. and Alma (Kearney) Battistelli. Mr. Battistelli earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield and was also a proud member of their "Pioneers Glee Club" while he attended. Early in his career, he worked as a sheriff and eventually held a long career as a Judicial Marshal for the State of Connecticut that spanned over 25 years of dedicated service before his retirement. A member of the Town Committee in Trumbull and also serving as the Town Constable for over 20 years. He was proud member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was an avid fisherman and boater his entire life and each year looked forward to dressing as Santa Claus at the local tree farm to spread holiday cheer to all the visitors that came looking for the perfect tree. His greatest enjoyment, however, was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mary-Jo, of 52 years, other survivors include his devoted sons, James J. Battistelli, Jr. (Lisa) of Guilford and Michael Battistelli (Vicki) of Oxford, his cherished grandchildren, Olivia and Reiley, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Battistelli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Nichols Village Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Mary, Jimmy & Michael & families. I was so sorry to hear of Jim's passing in Church and regret my unavailability to pay my proper respects. I remember when you all moved into the neighborhood across from my parents. Jim was immediately a friendly and welcome neighbor as were you all. The boys were skateboard crazy! if I remember it correctly!( As were my brother Jim & I in earlier days!)I'm sure you miss him my deepest condolences. If I can help in anyway let me know. My deepest sympathies to you all. Peace

We were terribly sad to read about Jim´s passing. We have known Jim for many years thru Trumbull Republican Town Committee and he was always so willing to help out in all our campaigns. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
