James Masiello Obituary

James E. Masiello
October 1, 1959 - January 21, 2025
James Edward Masiello Jr., age 65, of Westport, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly on January 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on October 1, 1959, to the late Nancy (Figlar) Masiello and Jim Masiello, Jimmy grew up with a deep sense of loyalty and an unshakeable bond with those he loved. His childhood best friends, Ed Bona and Ed Malloy, remained his closest companions throughout his life, a testament to the lasting friendships he built and treasured.
Jimmy was a tough cookie to crack, but those who got to know him witnessed a heart full of love, especially for those who needed it most. Known for his larger-than-life sarcastic sense of humor and his unwavering integrity, Jimmy had a knack for making people laugh and feel welcome. His family was everything to him, and he proudly bragged about his three children to anyone who would listen. His love for them knew no bounds.
A man of many passions, Jimmy had a special place in his heart for old mob movies, homemade Italian meals (especially when he was the one cooking!), the beach and golf. He loved spending time with friends on the course, often boasting about his handicap, and he had a talent for making every round feel like a good time. A fantastic cook, he always enjoyed preparing a delicious meal for family and friends to enjoy, but also loved visiting his favorite restaurants to spend time with special people.
Professionally, Jimmy had an illustrious 28-year career in sales and marketing, where he achieved tremendous success and formed long-lasting business relationships worldwide. Most recently, he was self-employed as a retail liquidator, renowned for his incredible salesmanship. Jimmy had a unique ability to sell face to face with charm and humor, never taking no for an answer, but always making people feel good about their purchases. He was truly one of the best in his field.
Jimmy was predeceased by his brother, Mark Masiello, and his two beloved chocolate labs, Winston and Duke, who were always by his side-especially when it was time for a special treat from Carvel. He is survived by his three children, Michele, Alexandra, and James (Buddy); his sister, Marnie Masiello; many cousins, extended family, and friends, all of whom loved him dearly. He also leaves behind a devoted community in Westport, where he was a familiar and cherished presence. His infectious smile, contagious laugh, and sense of humor will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
A wake will be held at Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East, Westport, Connecticut, on February 7, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral will take place at St. Luke Church, 49 North Turkey Hill Road, Westport, Connecticut, on February 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM, followed by a celebration of life at BJ Ryan's East, 1 Cove Avenue, Norwalk, Connecticut, at 12:30 p.m.
Donations can be made in his honor to the Mark Masiello '83 Memorial Scholarship at Fairfield College Prep www.fairfieldprep.org/giving or to World Central Kitchen www.wck.org
Jimmy's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his kindness, humor, and love.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family. Michelle reached out to me via text and told me the bad news about Maz. We worked together for a long time and especially our time together in our Westport office. We always had a great time working together and hanging out through goods times and bad. He was a great person and glad our paths crossed in this world.
I am sorry I could not make the wake or service but I am there is spirit.

So sorry to hear about Jim´s passing. We were team mates on two different baseball teams, one for Jr Babe Ruth and then again for Senior Babe. He was terrific baseball player and competitor. We had some fun times.

My Friend Maz has moved on, but he has left me with a freight train of irreplaceable memories. Is this not how we define our existence people? Sure, being a couple of "Healthy
Italian Alpha Males" entitles you to good times, laughter & promise..! Our Friendship also entitled us to memories of our Families. Mine of
the Masiello´s will always be fond. Maz like myself, wasn´t any push-over, & we respected, admired & enjoyed each others company. Indeed we tore it up & accumulated a lifetime a crazy stories... I am now left missing his phone messages, our conversations & updates on our life travels- all the good, bad & ugly which living throws at you. I celebrate our past & know all who knew my Friend have been gifted a smile.

See you on the other side Brother.

Jimmy was a sweet, original little boy who called cookies "crackers" (confusing our mother when she babysat him and Marnie) and he loved his family to the moon and back. My condolences to all. Maura Canter

I first met Jimmy in middle school , but our families knew each other from being original Westporters, our friendship started there through high school and on to Southern Connecticut State. Our friendship and our Saturday afternoon gathering at the BD where we all shared Italian delights and a few pops or... Jimmy and his family will always be remembered by myself and wife Sue. Once memorable picnic was when Michelle was just walking and loved orange soda and dirt, she was covered in both, Once Jimmy got home he had to give her a bath and he called and had to tell me how much dirt and orange soda was rinsed off of her, now this had to be done before mom came home. I will never forget how much we both laughed over for years, Rest in pease my friend and say hello to the boys upstairs or the ones that made it up there!!

I met Jimmy through Ed Bona, recently I got to know him more as he came to our home for dinner and to hang out. He did love to cook, always came with food and he did know Mob Movies - he would quiz us: name all the movies DiNero and Pesci
stared in, he knew the lines and if you messed them up he would correct you. A kind soul, you felt it, with an even bigger heart. I will miss him and for all those who were lucky to know him well and loved him dearly, family and friends, may you find some solace knowing he is at peace.

I have known this BEAUTIFUL Masiello family for over 40 years, cherishing my close friendship (that is still very close ) with Marnie. I recently reconnected with Jimmy who was a strong, courageous guy with a big heart. I loved ALL in the family and am blessed to have met all of them in my lifetime.
I know Marnie, as a strong, compassionate sister in Jimmy's life will miss him dearly as will ALL who knew him.
God Bless you
