James Pittu Obituary

PITTU James T. Pittu, age 84 of Fairfield, beloved husband of 57 years of the late Margaret Dimitrescu Pittu, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2009. Born in Bridgeport to the late Thomas and Rincea Fatsy Pittu, Mr. Pittu was a Fairfield Town resident for more than 45 years. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. James was a draftsman for the Bridgeport Post Publishing Co for nearly 30 years until his retirement. He was an active member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church where he held numerous positions on the Board of Directors. Jim was an avid golfer and bowler and in his youth he was an outstanding baseball and basketball player. James will be greatly missed by his sons, David Pittu and his wife, Linda of New York and James Pittu of California; grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Adam and Ashley; sisters, Florence Pittu of Bridgeport and Virginia Cook of Fairfield; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Dimitrescu of Rhode Island; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Victoria Chanaca and Sophie Reimer. Funeral services were held privately in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home. Burial took place in Mt.
