Jennie Bennett Obituary

BENNETT Jennie Damiani Bennett of Bridgeport, passed peacefully to her Heavenly rest within days of her 92nd birthday on July 4th. Born July 10, 1919 in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Anna Damiani Capizzi and John Damiani. Jennie was a focused, determined, spirited woman who worked at the Bridgeport Brass Co. for more than 40 years, eventually retiring at 62 as the Executive administrative assistant to the vice president. While she was a dedicated member of St. Andrews Church as well as numerous parent's clubs, what brought her the most joy was making other people laugh and feel loved. Jennie was known for her warmth, friendliness, loyalty and compassion. She devoted much time and energy as a caregiver to her mother, husband and sister. Jennie was happily married to the late John Bennett for more than 51 years. She is survived by her daughter, Diana Larsen and her husband, Lance; three grandchildren, Danielle, Darren, and Ashley, who she loved dearly; as well as her older sister and lifelong companion, Susan Matera. She is also survived by Sadie Damiani, Carmella Damiani, Kal Violante, Irene McNeil, Stella Bennett, Joan and Don Gunther, Barbara and Bobby Ciotti, Cornelius Bennett and Marie Altieri; family friend, Ellen Gargano; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the Abriola & Kelemen Funeral Home, 2160 Main St. Bridgeport. Funeral services will be held on Friday July 8, 2011 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home and 10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jennie Bennett's memory to the Society of the Little Flower, 1313 N Frontage Road, Darien, Il.60561-5340.
