Jeremiah Mahoney Obituary

MAHONEY Jeremiah (Jerry) Mahoney, age 90, of Ansonia, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at The Hospital of St. Raphael-s. He is the husband of Mary Kiely Mahoney. Born in Ansnonia on August 25, 1915, he was the son of the late William and Ellen Carey Mahoney. A communicant and eucharistic minister of the Church of the Assumption, graduate of the Assumption School, The Ansonia High School, Class of 1933, a life time member of the Webster Hose Fire Department, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus and retired as assistant postmaster of the Ansonia Post Office after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Mary Mahoney; nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Harold Andrew of Derby. He was predeceased by three sisters, Josephine Donohue, Anne Coyle and Hellen Mahoney and two brothers, Rev. William G. Mahoney and Phillip Mahoney. His funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N. Cliff Street followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of the Assumption. Burial will be in Mt. St. Peters Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. Donations may be made to the Assumption Church or school in care of the fuenral home.
