John Carriero Obituary

Carriero, John J.
John Joseph Carriero, age 48, beloved husband to Leslie Lee Carriero and longtime resident of Milford, left this earth and departed to heaven peacefully at home on Saturday, August 23, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and friends after his 4 month, hard-fought, courageous battle with cancer. He took all that love with him to heaven. Born on August 4, 1966 in Greenwich, CT, he was the son of Anthony and Barbara Fesett Carriero. John was an incredibly strong man who loved his family and friends. He was a kind hearted, gentle soul who touched so many people's hearts with his contagious loving smile. Even up to the very end, when he barely had any energy left, he was able to muster up strength to smile and kiss his wife, Leslie. He was a man of strength, courage and valor; John left this earth a fighter not a quitter! John was admired by the wide circle of people whose lives he touched. He was an incredibly talented architect, avid Yankee fan, enjoyed being out on his boat, and possessed a third degree black belt in Martial Arts.
The Carriero family would like to extend their heart felt gratitude to Dr. Paul Berard and staff, the nurses from the Infusion Center at St. Vincent's, the entire staff of the Oncology floor at St. Vincent's, and to Dr. Mel Rosenblatt and his entire staff. They also would like to acknowledge their friends, neighbors, the St. Peter's community, and all their co-workers during this incredibly difficult four months.
In addition to his loving wife Leslie, John was a proud and adoring father to his son Kyle John Carriero; brothers Steven Carriero (Suzanne) and Christopher Carriero (David); in-laws Stanley Lee (Shirley); brother-in-law Sean Lee; nephews Alex Carriero and Zachary Lee; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration Of Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 30th at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 71 River Street, Milford CT 06460 (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Committal will be private. Memorial contributions can be made in John's honor to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, 5526 W 13400 S., #510, Salt Lake City, UT 84096 or to the Kyle Carriero Scholarship Fund, C/O Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. I was a classmate of his at Platt Tech, and was genuinely saddened by his departure. I was a shy and insecure kid, and was bullied by many in high school. John, on the other hand, was always kind, and never had a bad word to say about anybody. I also remember him being very talented in his drawing skills, and being helpful to us ladies in the shop when we needed assistance. I am so sorry for your loss.

Today we said goodbye to the greatest friend anyone could have. John was a great man in every aspect and will be missed deeply. Heaven gained a man with heart, soul, compassion who loved his family more than anything. I know he will watch over us. Until we meet again!!!

Having known John in the prime of his life, I trained with him, fought with him, and found he was a gifted fighter. He could use his legs like we used our hands. When training at the school, watching him stretch would make us cringe! He had great technique and control. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. Our comfort now is knowing he is in God's care.

Being neighbors for over the last 20 years and watching our kids grow up , it is hard to believe how life can change in only four months . Your strength was amazing and you fought to the very end ... Rest easy John , you will be missed. Leslie , Kyle and all of your family will always be in our thoughts & prayers ... Love , Mary, Glenn ,Bill & Sean Laudenslager

I went to Platt Tech with John and spent four years in shop with him. During those four years as students naturally we all got to know each other fairly well. John was always kind and caring and when I think back to that time he is fondly remembered. He was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed.

My deepest condolences. I left Milford in 1985, and hadn't seen John since 1981, from Meadowside Elementary, but he was never forgotten. Fond memories of hanging out by the creek with Tony and Mucci'... Grace and Blessings.

John you were such a wonderful guy. I enjoyed the times we went on the choir field trips just hanging out enjoying our kids. You always were there to lend a helping hand whenever anyone needed it. You will be missed. You were such a trooper with that smile you turned on till you left us... Rest peacefully out of pain...xoxoxo

Leslie and Kyle, I am so sorry for your loss. Several things come to mind when I think of Jonh...intelligent, funny, strong, kind and a loving man who took great care of his family. A man like that is rare these days but he was also so blessed to have both of you by his side. He may be gone physically but his memory will live on in both of you and all the people who loved and knew him. I pray that all your happy memories of him help you through the difficult days ahead.
