John Filakovsky Jr., age 95, of Trumbull, beloved husband of the late Mary Comandini Filakovsky, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015 in St. Vincent's Medical Center. John, a retired Foreman for Hawie Manufacturing Company, was born in Bridgeport to the late John and Elizabeth (Sedlak) Filakovsky Sr., and has been a life long area resident. He was a carpenter by training, and built his own home and several others for family members. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed woodworking. He will be remembered for his warmth, his sparkling blue eyes and amazing smile, but most of all for being an extraordinary and devoted husband, father and friend. Filakovsky of Trumbull, sister-in-law Marie Filakovsky of Shelton, the two loving "daughters" that he never had, Donna and Kathy, a special friend Clay-dee Kochiss, a supportive niece and nephew, Tina, and Ron, and numerous other special nieces and nephews. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, John was pre-deceased by his brothers, Mike and Bill, sisters, Ann Drabb, Mary Guman, Helen Kapral, Jeanne Stamos, and Betty Zacchia, and his lifelong friend Frank Kochiss. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 9th at 9:45 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford with Very Rev. David Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Johnny I am so sorry for your loss but we all have that time in our furture and your dad was a special and loving person and blessed to have had you for a son. I just found out today as no one had let me know of your loss. I too was a lucky person to have had so many years with your mom and dad God bless you Johnny

John, after you called me twice without leaving a message I realized I may be correct in my concern. I just found this online and I am so sorry for your loss; my deepest sympathy goes out to you. He was a sweet man. You have been a very devoted and loving son in the ability to keep your dad at home and take care of him the way you did the last number of years. I am sure your bond deepened during this time and only hope that he passed peacefully, and is reunited with your mom.

John will be missed more than words can express. He was the kindest of men and his welcoming smile and love of family and friends will always be remembered. He left a lasting impression on all the lives he touched. I was blessed to have this special man in my life. And to his son John, I am saddened for your loss. You were a gift to your dad; your love and devotion to making the last years of his life such happy ones was extraordinary.
