Donna and Carroll, so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to the services as I was having surgery that day, but want you to know that you and your families have been in our thoughts and prayers. We were in Stratford High School with Jack and remember him with such fond memories. Love to all,

Dear Donna,
It is amazing how something sad like this can trigger so many happy memories.Perhaps you remember me, Kathy Hornyak, SHS '63. Bubbdy, I remember you well. Most recently I thought of Jack when I visited Danny's Drive In and pointed out the photo of him on the motorcycle, to my husband who did not grow up here. I hope all your memories and the army of friends thinking of you will bring you comfort.

Dear Family of Jack,
I worked with Jack at the Milford Housing Authority. I loved working with him and we had the best arguments - we always ended up laughing. We lost touch over the years but I thought of him often and how lucky I was to have made his aquaintence. May he rest in peace.

To All My Friends In Stratford, espescially the living police who remember Jack Hughes,
It has been generations since I last saw Jack Hughes. He like many other men of the forties, fifties and early sixties gave Stratford the finest Police Force I have ever known.
They were honest, respected and liked by all, young and old, and part of our community. They kept us safe, to the point where we didn't have to lock our doors, and kids could ride their bikes anywhere in Town. Many were Veterans of WW II and the Korean Conflict.
Jack always dreamed of being in law enforcement all his life. I can remember him pulling into the outdoor dairy bars, and ball fields at night and being a special friend to all the kids in Town. So was Horky, Clyde, the McNamara's, Andy Havan, Bill Troland,Tony, Roy Chief Geary..........all of this highly distinguished group. They formed the PAL for us and were active. Many taught us to drive (and slowed us down as well).
Jack ......we all liked and respected you and all your peers.
10,000 Thankyous to you and your buddies for being there for us in our youth.

Rick - It's hard not to smile when I think of Jack. A wry sense of humor, a sharp needle, a twinkle in his eyes behind a cloud of cigar smoke. Hold onto those memories of him.
