John Hurley Obituary

HURLEY John B. Hurley, age 79 of Milford, beloved husband of Iris Hurley, died on Friday, June 1, 2007. Mr. Hurley was born in Bridgeport on September 14, 1927 to the late Bartholomew and Ada VanCuren Hurley and was a Milford resident for 30 years. He was retired from the City of Bridgeport where he was assistant personnel director for 20 years. Mr. Hurley was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Milford Senior Center where he was an avid bingo player. Mr. Hurley was a lifetime member of the VFW, Post 7788 and a member and past president of NAGE Local RI200. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Iris, include three daughters, Sharon Hurley and Shawn Wnuk, both of Philadelphia and Susan Hurley of New York City; a stepdaughter, Alison Brodie of New Hampshire; a stepson, Duncan Brodie of Stratford; a sister, Marge Thompson of Clinton; a grandson, Anthony Wnuk; a stepgranddaughter, Pearl Allen; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hurley was predeceased by a brother and a sister. Friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday at 10 a.m. in The Gregory F. Doyle Funeral Home, 291 Bridgeport Avenue, Milford. Friends may call on Monday morning 8:30 a.m. till time of service. Interment with full military honors will be in Middletown Veteran's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, Ct. 06405 in Mr. Hurley's memory.
