John L. McSweeney
Jesus cut the chains of the dementia bondage for John Lawrence McSweeney on October 28, 2025, John, who was known by all as Jack, was 81. Born to John Joseph McSweeney and Angelina Damato and lived his entire young life on Willow Street in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In his youth you would find him playing baseball for Park City Little League. A Bullard Havens Regional Technical School graduate of 1962 where he was known to his friends as "Mac". His continuing education included graduating from Norwalk State Technical Institute in 1964 and receiving his ABS from Bridgeport Engineering Institute in 1968. By 1978 he had achieved gaining his Professional Engineering License from the States of Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Indiana. He earned his MBA from New Haven University in 1981. His professional career started with The Edwards Company and progressed to ITT Grinelle, Raybestos Manhattan and Milford Rivet. In the early 1980's he partnered with Truman Bassett of Trumbull, Connecticut to launch a manufacturing company they named Trumac. It was the beginning of something big. Trumac was the springboard for their eventual turbine diffuser operation company which was ultimately taken Public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2001. In his recreational life he would often be found swinging one mean golf club. He was also a swimmer, a runner and a bicyclist. He was an avid reader and studied many different religions. He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda, sons, John McSweeney Jr. and Nolan stepchildren, John Crocker and Joy Kuper and sister, Barbara DiStefano. John was a man of enterprising spirit that took his work seriously, aspired to great prizes and excelled in all he did. He was a man of humanity, integrity, fairness, kindness, and great generosity. He will be so missed by so many. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 9th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in The Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, Connecticut. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 10th at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Ann's Church, 501 Naugatuck Avenue, Milford, Connecticut. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Avenue, Stratford, Connecticut. John's two favorite charities were
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and
