John Raytar Obituary

RAYTAR John E. Raytar, age 86, of Derby, beloved husband of Marie (Stacer) Raytar, entered eternal life Saturday, January 27, 2007 at Griffin Hospital, Derby. Mr. Raytar was born January 17, 1921 in Bridgeport, son of the late John and Mary (Manavcsik) Rajtar, and had been a lifetime area resident. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from JC Penny, Trumbull and a past member of the Connecticut Auxiliary Police. Survivors in addition to his wife, include two sons, John Raytar of Watertown, Robert Raytar of Naugatuck; stepson, David Kostrey of Derby; three daughters, Barbara Dizenzo of Southinton, Linda Koulouris of Watertown, and Joann Raytar of Derby; stepdaughter, Sue Orner of Orange; nine grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford. Funeral services and Interment in the State Veterans Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 96 Oak Street, Hartford, CT 06106 or the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton, CT 06611.
