John Thomas Obituary
John Thomas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the age of 80 in his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Voula Thomas, three children Lukas and his wife Larissa, Mark and his wife Nia and Kiki and her husband Jim and four grandchildren, John, Connie, Viviana and Emmie. He was a wonderful father and even better grandfather. He emigrated from his beloved village of Kirinthos, Evia, Greece at the age of 27 to start a new life with his bride. He adopted Trumbull as his new home for his family and lived there for over 40 years. He retired as a bread baker from Pepperidge Farm in 2002. His real joy was working his "side" job as an ice cream man driving around and bringing fun and happiness to all those kids for all those summers. Bringing his Greek traditions with him, he would cultivate his summer garden and make wine every year and for several years he even made tsipouro!
John was predeceased by his brother Dimitri and his sister Tasia and survived by his sisters Eleni and Agathi, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. In his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed their summer vacations in his beloved village of Kirinthos. He was active in the local Greek community and a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Bridgeport.
Friends are invited to attend the "Rite of Burial" on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Ave., Bridgeport with Fr. Georgios Livaditis Presbyter officiating followed by interment in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Calling hours will take place on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Church. The Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church Iconography Project in memory of John Thomas.
