John "Jack" R. Turner
John "Jack" R. Turner, age 79, of Stratford, beloved husband of Perpetua Voytek Turner, peacefully passed away on February 12, 2023 in his home in Stratford with his loving family by his side. He was born in Bridgeport on September 7, 1943 to the late Ernest and Anne Hajdu Turner. He attended St. Ambrose Elementary School, and received his GED. He joined the Army, serving most of his time overseas in Germany. He returned stateside and met the love of his life, Perpetua, whom he married on May 21, 1966. He worked at Raybestos, until a friend talked him into joining Local #38 Sheet Metal Worker's Union, where he became a Legendary Foreman until his retirement. He enjoyed his favorite chair at home where he could watch the birds and be his neighborhood's own personal crime watch. He was a master storyteller and loved to play pranks on those he loved. He enjoyed playing the numbers, betting on the horses, having drinks with his friends at the FDIC and VFW and going to Las Vegas. He attended his numerous grandchildren's school and sporting events where he was their biggest fan. In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, Perpetua, Jack is survived by three sons, John R. Turner II (Christine Persson), Theodore Turner (Raquel Vazquez), and Thomas Turner, one daughter, Theresa Pabis (Matthew), grandchildren, Andrew Pabis, Maggie Turner, Julie Turner, Hannah Turner, Shayna Turner, Rebecca Turner, Casey Pabis, Johnny Turner and Jackson Pabis, he was blessed with one great-grandson, Francis Koskelowski., his siblings, Elizabeth (Betty Ann) Holaday (Burton "Doc"), George Turner (Laura) and Joanne Larrow (Kevin) and many loved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Along with his beloved parents Jack was predeceased by his siblings and their spouses, Jean (Turner) Campbell (Vincent), Ernest (Buddy) Turner (Barbara), Susan (Turner) Rice and Paul Turner. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Avenue, Stratford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Albert Pinciaro. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 9:00 - 10:30 AM at the Galello-Luchansky Funeral Home 2220 Main Street, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire, may contribute in Jack's memory to to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or the VFW, Post 9460, 100 Veteran's Blvd., Stratford, CT 06614.
