John Volto Obituary

VOLTO John J. Volto, age 82, husband of Josephine F. Sorrenti Volto, of Ansonia, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Griffin Hospital. He was born July 2, 1923 in Ansonia, son of the late Julius and Genevieve D'Urbano Volto. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the 150th Engineer Combat Battalion. He worked as a machinist for Farrel Corp. of Derby. He was a parishioner of The Holy Rosary Church of Ansonia and was a member of The Italian American Civic Association of West Haven. In addition to his loving wife Josephine, he is survived by his two daughters, Geraldine Reinhart of Littleton, Colo. and Theresa Robison of Oxford; one son, John J. Volto of Seymour; two sisters, Marie Sampieri and Lola Virzi, both of Orange; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers. Funeral services will held on Tuesday, 8 a.m. from The Jenkins-King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin Street, Ansonia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 9 a.m. from Holy Rosary Church, Ansonia. Burial with full military honors will follow in Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby. Friends may call on Monday, 4 to 8 p.m.
