John V. Yacovelli II, age 73, of Bridgeport, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022 in St. Vincent's Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Born in Bridgeport on January 13, 1949 to the late John V, and Emily (Lewis) Yacovelli, of 95 Richfield Rd., Bridgeport and resided there with his parents and brother, Paul Yacovelli. He attended John Winthrop Elementary School and Central High School, where he learned carpentry skills and a love of automotive repair. He used those skills for many years by working in those fields and helping family and friends. Later on he became a master welder and worked for AVCO for his last few working years. John taught his children many of his skills in the car repair area, that both Michael and Tracey will remember forever and continue to pass on to their children. John was a member of the US Army after high school and was a passionate photographer and music enthusiast. He spent a lot of his free time taking family pictures including Paul and Debbie's wedding pictures. He enjoyed jazz, blues, and country music. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He is survived by his son, Michael John Yacovelli (Pam Edwards) and his daughter Tracey Lynn Deso; grandchildren, Courtney and Emily Yacovelli, Raymond Michael Deso, Kristoffer Edwards (Julie) and Jessica Edwards; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Debbie Yacovelli and niece Morgan Yacovelli (Fillipo Petrini); several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-7 pm in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. All other arrangements are private.
