Joseph Cardillo Obituary

CARDILLO Joseph A. Cardillo, age 78 of Trumbull, died on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Notre Dame Convalescent Home, Norwalk. Born in Norwalk on March 21, 1932, he was the son of the late Anthony and Angelina (Maestro) Cardillo and the beloved husband of Amelia Marlene (Keri) Cardillo. He graduated from Norwalk High School, Class of 1950, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, Joseph worked for the Burndy Corporation as Supervisor of Electronic Quotations. An active musician, Joseph loved music so much, that he pursued his dream of owning a music store. He and his wife owned Ridgefield Music until their retirement in 1994. Joe also played the saxophone for many years with a local wedding and dance band called "The Roulettes". He was a member and secretary of Musician's Union Local 52. He volunteered at Norwalk Hospital for many years because he strongly believed in "giving back" to his community. In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by a daughter Jolene DeBoer and her husband David of Norwalk; and a son Robert Cardillo and his wife Laurel of Port Matilda, Pa.; four loving grandchildren: Brian and Marc DeBoer, Amanda and Stephanie Cardillo; as well as a niece, nephew and three great-nieces. Joseph's family will receive friends on Sunday, January 30, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Magner Funeral Home, 12 Mott Ave. Norwalk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 31, at St. Matthew Church, Norwalk. Burial with military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery, Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Notre Dame Convalescent Home, 76 West Rocks Rd., Norwalk, CT 06851. For directions or to sign online guestbook, please go to magnerfuneralhome.com .

Hi Marlene from the 3 Campbells who remember you and Joe, The Roulettes who played for the Ridgefield Jaycees when we all were young, and all the wonderful things Joe did for Heather to encourage her sax playing! So sorry to hear about Joe's passing and wishing that the best of your yesterdays are the worst of your tomorrows.

Joe and his band played at my wedding in 1974, he and the band were fantastic, many people talked about the music and dancing for a long time afterward, so many compliments. My Dad, Andrew, suggested we get Joe and the band, my sympathy to your family, he was a wonderful musician.
