Julia Kovacs Obituary

KOVACS Julia Madeline Kovacs (Baba), of Stratford, died peacefully on March 16, 2008 with her family by her side, now to join her beloved husband, William, in Heaven. Born in Bayonne, N.J., she was the devoted daughter of the late John and Mary Porubsky. Julia was a loving mother, Baba, great-grandmother who took pride in loving, caring and sharing special moments with her family. She was a faithful member of St. James Community, St. Mark's Seniors and the Baldwin Center. For thirty years she enjoyed her early morning swims with pool friends at the Startford YMCA. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Barbara Smith and her husband, Francis and Karen Hangos and her husband, George, all of Stratford; four grandchildren, Kelley Hangos-Carrano and her husband, Kris Carrano, Scott and his wife, Laura Smith, Jill and her husband, Jack Root and William Hangos; great-grandchildren, Eric and Julia Smith, Katelyn and Christopher Root and Connor Carrano; two sisters, Mary Kastner of San Juan, California and Loretta Myers of Shelton; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends whose lives she touched. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by one sister, Jean Cuff. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. at the Pistey Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia's memory may be made to Care of Our Father's House at St. James Church, 2010 Main St., Stratford 06615. The family wishes to thank the staff of the stroke floor at St. Vincent Medical Center and special angel, Erin, for their endearing love and support.
