Keith Joines Obituary

Keith Perryman Joines
Keith was born September 15, 1948 to the late James Perryman Sr., and Mother Alydia Frank Joines in Manhattan, NY. He died in peace, unexpectedly on July 1, 2017 at the age of 68 while on vacation in Matanzas, Cuba. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his Sisters Jacqueline R., Lezlee Patricia and Brothers James Jr. and Craig Perryman.
Keith was bigger than life itself, there are no words to describe his Journey; he was a sweet sweet soul that came into this world to Love, Serve, Conquer and then move on to a new heavenly gig. For those who know him well; knows he loved to jam to his music.
He Loved family, his loving wife of 40 years Agnes Joines, adoring son Keith P. Joines II, Dearest Aunt & Uncle David and Juanita (Pat) Brillant, Sister Robin and Brother Dwayne Perryman, Treasured Mother-In-Law Louvern Clayton. Keith will be forever remembered by his Sister-in-law Lois Lewis (Larry), Valerie Clayton-Jamison, Aronette Clayton; Brother-in-law Ivan Clayton and Darren Jackson. He will be forever remembered by his Precious Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, extended Ocha Family, friends and the numerous students ("his kids") that he dedicated his life to.
He Served the Bridgeport Community starting in his early college years; he was a mentor, big brother to families with children in his neighborhood that needed his help, therein his passion for educating students began. His creed for children was to "finish high school, get into a good college, stay the course and reach for the stars". Mr. Joines will live on in the lives he touched. It was his Mission… his Gift… his Legacy.
He Conquered the challenges of a rural CT education and went on to graduate from Torrington High School. He was an extremely skilled Martial Artist, received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from The University of Bridgeport, which catapulted him into his forty year career in education. In the beginning of his career, he landed at Eastside Middle school, and then he moved on to Bassick High School and Housatonic Community College. During his tenure with these institutions, he was a member of the College Counselors Connection, Yoruba Priesthood/Religious Commitments, Music-ECLIPSE BAND and African Guides Program/Council of Elders. He was larger than life, a solid rock that his family and friends depended on, loved and respected.
Keith retired in 2012 and lived a life of leisure and travel, He would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received an offer he could not refuse—this new assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus: a reunion with the ancestors, loved ones, and friends. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing and reading until his heart's content. Music, laughter, and delicious food are guaranteed. He left detailed instructions for his family, students, and friends to celebrate his mission here, which has now been completed--Not obeying his instructions will not be tolerated.
He made a difference in the lives of many. We invite you to join us and celebrate together.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017, 10 a.m., at Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank Street, Bridgeport, CT with Dr. Anthony L Bennett, D. Min. officiating. Entombment will take place following the service at Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E. Main St, Waterbury, CT 06705. See www.mortonsmortuary.com

TO THE FAMILY. MAY YOU FIND STRENGTH IN YOUR FAITH AT THIS TIME OF SORROW. KEITH AND I GO BACK TO THE LATE SIXTIES DURING COLLEGE. HE WAS A MAN/STUDENT SEARCHING FOR TRUTH IN HIS STUDIES IN FAITH AND CULTURE. KEITH WAS A TREASURE TO HIS STUDENTS, HE ENCOURAGED THEM TO EXCELL IN THEIR STUDIES AND BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES, ANYTHING WAS POSSIBLE IF THEY STAYED THE COURSE. HE WILL BE MISSED. REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER, THE ELDERS ARE WAITING.

Loving family time.
