Leon Malin Obituary

MALIN Leon James Malin, age 58, beloved husband of Angel I. Spero Malin, of Shelton, died Monday evening, April 7, 2003, after sustaining injuries in an automobile accident. Mr. Malin was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on October 21, 1944, son of Leon Malin of Bedford, Texas, and the late Eileen O Meara Tarnawa. He was employed as the manager of Sleepy s Mattress in Branford. He spent his free time enjoying his grandchildren, cooking, and gardening. Besides his wife and father, he is survived by a son, Keith E. Malin of Ansonia; a daughter, Heather M. Ferreira of Shelton; his stepfather, Joseph Tarnawa of Milford; stepbrother, Scott Tarnawa of West Haven; three sisters, Eileen Byrne of Bedford, Texas, Judy Jurczak of Milford, and Kyle Plouffe of Wallingford; five grandchildren, Brittany Malin and Brianna Malin, both of Ansonia, Angel Ferreira and Catie Ferreira, both of Shelton, and Jason Ferreira of California; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by a stepbrother, Joel Tarnawa. Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, April 11, 2003, at 9 a.m. (Directly) at the Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Spinelli-Malerba Funeral Home, 62 Beaver Street, Ansonia, CT 06401. Committal prayers and inurnment will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Mount Saint Peters Cemetery in Derby.
