Leonard A. Messina passed away on September 25, 2025, at home, with his wife and children by his side. Leonard was born on July 5, 1950, to Joseph A. and Donata (Donna) Telesco Messina in Port Chester, NY, where he attended schools. Leonard was a bricklayer/mason for New York Local 5 and Connecticut Local 1 for approximately 40 years. Leonard enjoyed time with his family, attending his children's sporting events, time in the garden and doing yard work, vacations and nightly dinners with his family. Leonard was a proud member of the 1965 NY Senior Babe Ruth League champions from Port Chester, NY.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Susan Murray Messina, with whom he was married for 31 years; children, Donna and Matthew; siblings, Joseph A. Messina (Pamela) of Eden Prairie, MN, Diana Nethercott (William) of Rye Brook, NY; sister-in-law, Rita Messina of Port Chester, NY; mother-in-law, Patricia Murray of Trumbull; brother-in-law, Michael Murray of Trumbull; sisters-in-law, Anne Murray of Derby and Patricia Krasenics (Dale) of Odessa, FL. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Leonard was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Peter A. Messina.
Services were private, with military honors.
The family would like to thank Dr. Moshe Hasbani, Dr. Mohammed Sharfuddin and Dr. Mark Waynik for their years of care and compassion for Leonard, which gave him more time with his family.
