Maria Odete Moreno Rua
Maria Odete Moreno Rua, age 69, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Goncalves Rua. Born on February 18, 1956, in Peirezes, Portugal, Maria was the daughter of the late Anibal Moreno and Elisa Videira. In 1975, she immigrated to the United States in search of a better life for herself and her family. She made her home in Bridgeport and was employed for many years by Bridgeport Fittings until her retirement. Maria Odete was known for her strong work ethic and unwavering devotion to her family. She always placed the needs of her loved ones above her own and found great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her warmth, kindness, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Maria Odete was predeceased by her husband, Jose; her daughter, Diana Moreno Rua; and her siblings, Joao and Elisabete. She is survived by her devoted children: her son, Duarte Rua and his wife Amanda of Monroe; and her daughter, Silvia Rua Alfonso and her husband Kevin of Seymour. Maria also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren: David, Liliana, Jacob, Caleb, Ophelia, Peyton, and Delilah. She is also survived by her siblings: Emilia Moreno DaSilva and her husband Acacio of Spain; Jose Manuel Moreno and his wife Maria Ines of Naugatuck; Arlindo Moreno and his wife Anna of Bridgeport; and Paula Rodrigues of Trumbull; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Maria Odete will be remembered for her selflessness, strength, and the deep love she had for her family. Her memory will be cherished forever. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
