Martha M. DeSabia
August 27, 1954 - March 6, 2023
Martha M. (Wellock) DeSabia, age 68 of Seymour, CT, beloved wife of James DeSabia, entered peaceful rest on Monday, March 6, 2023 in her home surrounded by family. Born in Bridgeport on August 27, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Edith (Ambrose) Wellock. Martha was a special education teacher who absolutely loved working with children. She met her husband, James, while singing in the folk group at St. Ambrose Church, Bridgeport, and married in 1978. They both shared a love for music and she was a member of the St. Joseph High School choir (Shelton), SCSU Glee Club, and St. Thomas the Apostle (Oxford) choir. Martha also enjoyed knitting and reading, but mostly spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, James of 44 years, survivors include her loving daughters, Edith H. DeSabia and Ruth A. DeSabia; two cherished grandchildren, Arturo DeGeorge and Victoria Bernard, a brother Thomas Wellock and his wife Pam, a sister Nancy Glovinski and her husband Robert, several nieces and nephews, as well as her adored granddog, Pepper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11am in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 733 Oxford Rd., Oxford, CT 06478 and interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends can greet the family from 9am to 10:30am in the Ralph E. Hull Funeral Home, 161 W. Church St. Seymour, CT 06483. To Jim and all of cousin Martha's family. I am so sorry to hear of your beloved Martha's passing. I was glad to have seen her in 2021 (at her aunt Ada's service), and hearing Martha tell me about her loving family. She was very proud of you all. You have my sincere condolences.

I remember Martha as a camp counselor at the Lakewood Trumbull YMCA Camp Tepee. Her smile hasn´t changed a bit...I´d know her anywhere. I am so sorry for your loss. She was truly a good, good person.
