Martha Louise Godfrey MacDonald

MACDONALD Martha Louise Godfrey MacDonald, died May 26th at the age of 88. She was the daughter of Homer C. Godfrey and Helen Lewis Godfrey, and a life long resident of Fairfield and Westport. She was a graduate of the Fannie A. Smith School, Fairfield High School and Smith College. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Richard Howitt MacDonald, and by their son, Peter Lewis MacDonald. She is survived by a son, Mark Godfrey MacDonald, daughter-in-law Lynn MacDonald; three grand-daughters and their husbands, Megan and Benjamin Kinney of Fairfield, Molly and Dean Pimenta of New York City, and Melanie and Jerry Ruggieri of Fairfield; and one month old great-grand-daughter, Grace Godfrey Kinney. Martha Louise was the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the former President of the Homer C. Godfrey Company, the family masonry supply business in Bridgeport, where she worked for 54 years. She also served on the Board of Directors of Mason Supply Reserve, Inc. of Middletown. She was an active member of the Contemporary Club of Bridgeport, the Westport Women's Club, Bridgeport Ladies Charitable Society, and the Dartmouth Club of Eastern Fairfield County. Her past involvements included the Junior League of Eastern Fairfield County, the Burroughs Home Board and the Visiting Nurse Board. She enjoyed her needlework, the beach, bike riding, reading, her family and her many friends. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. June 1st in Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 2 at Greenfield Hill Congregational Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be private.
