Donofrio, Mary C.
Mary Caruso Donofrio, age 91, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late Anthony M. Donofrio, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, December 21, 2016 surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born on November 28, 1925 in Ielsi, Campobasso, Italy, a daughter of the late Andrew and Angelina Caruso. A talented and creative seamstress and dress designer, Mary worked in the fashion industry upon her arrival to the United States in 1946. She continued to delight her family with her hand made dresses, costumes and Christmas pajamas. Mary was happiest in the kitchen and was well known for her delicious cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed family gatherings, holidays and the company of her loved ones. She will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, sense of humor and great capacity to nurture and love. In addition to her husband Tony, Mary was predeceased by her brother Louis. She is survived by her children, John Donofrio, Elizabeth Riccio and her husband Dan, all of Trumbull and Daniel Donofrio of Shelton, her grandchildren, Daniel, Anthony, Matthew, Elizabeth and Michael, great grandson Daniel and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Mary's family will receive friends on Monday, December 26th from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405. To leave an online condolence, visit us at www.abriola.com.

What a generous loving woman and mother. I had the grace to know her when i visited the Donofrio family across the street from my Aunt Tia Barrett in 1971. From California. Ill never forget her! The best spaghetti I ever ate...ever!! My prayers are with her and I hope Liz contacts me! Liz!! contact me....
