Mary Oleynick Obituary

OLEYNICK Mary Dwyer Oleynick, age 80, a lifelong Bridgeport, resident died Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank J. Oleynick Sr., and daughter of the late James and Anna Nolan Dwyer. She is survived by her son, Frank J. Oleynick Jr. and his wife, Maribeth of Bridgeport; daughters, Marianne Arszyla and her husband, Kenneth, Nancy Hummel and her husband, James, all of Huntington; grandchildren, Frank and Michael Oleynick, Kelly and Keith Arszyla, and Jason and Justin Hummel; sister, Jean Criscione; brother, William Dwyer; and several nieces and nephews. Mary was a graduate of Central High School. She received the Presidents Volunteer Service Award for 4,000 hours of Volunteer Service for RSVP, Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She was a member and treasurer of Augustana Association, member of the Bridgeport Federation of Democratic Women and an active member of St. Ambrose Parish. Mary will be remembered for her love of family, the pride she took in her grandchildren and her Irish heritage. She loved to travel, volunteer, enjoyed crafts, bingo, and knitting and was very active in politics. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull and at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Those who so desire may make contributions in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Rd. Wilton, CT 06897-2523. I don't know where to start. I wish that Paul, myself, Peter and Toots were in CT. when all this saddness occured. Please know we all just found out today of your great loss. I am so sorry for your loss. We now live in Florida. Your mom was my matron of honor when we got married 61 years ago. We can't get to the services but we will say many prayers for her.
