Matthew Hunyadi Obituary
Matthew J. Hunyadi, age 90, of Huntington Connecticut, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025.
Born in Connecticut to the late Elmer and Mary Hunyadi, Matt dedicated his career to education in Trumbull, where he served as a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent.
He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Hunyadi for 69 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Michael (Deborah) Hunyadi, Nancy (Mark) Olney, John (Eileen) Hunyadi, and James Hunyadi. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, as well as his brother Ted (Cathy) Hunyadi and sister Mary.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Lawrence Parish, 505 Shelton Avenue, Shelton, CT 06484. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Connecticut Children's Foundation at www.connecticutchildrensfoundation.org/donate.

Matt was a man of principle and fairness. As a principal, he was a joy to work with. I will always remember him on Monday mornings after a UCONN/ Villanova game. We always knew his mood depended on the outcome.
I send my condolences to all his family. He was a true family man who loved his wife and children. He was a role model for us all.
