Michael Lane Obituary

Michael J. Lane
09/25/1964-12/21/2022
BETHANY
Michael J. Lane
"Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend"
Michael J. Lane, 58, of Bethany, entered into the gates of heaven on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in the comfort of his home with his beloved family by his side, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was the loving husband of Gail E. (Graves) Lane of thirty-four years.
Michael was born in Bridgeport, CT on September 25, 1964, son of John Lane and Ann (Castaldo) Lutinski. Throughout his entire life, Michael was a born teacher. He was a graduate of Bullard Haven's Technical High School and excelled throughout his education by receiving his 6th year degree in educational leadership. His love for helping others learn and excel prevailed throughout his life and his work. Michael was a man of faith, and was a devoted parishioner of St. Michael's Church in Beacon Falls.
Michael was gifted with a special ability to always somehow bring out the best in others, always seeing things in people that if it wasn't for Michael, they couldn't even see in themselves. For seventeen years Michael taught Special Education, and then worked as Sales Training Director for Connecticut Basement Systems where he trained a vast amount of individuals from all over North America. No matter what the task was, Michael always gave his absolute best, was dedicated, and was beyond generous with his time. He was an incredible teacher, counselor, coach, and touched many, many lives of others.
Michael always enjoyed the thrill for speed whether it was racing go-karts, stock cars, or motorcycles. He often enjoyed sharing the story for holding the Connecticut fishing record for black seabass even though he was not at all a fisherman.
Always having a love for music, Michael was a talented composer and musician playing the piano, keyboards, and was even a national champion accordion player at age 17, and third in the world at age 25. Michael proudly arranged all of the music for multiple events for Michael Bolton's Orchestra such as Bolton's Christmas Concert in London, the Hollywood Bowl, and even arranged music for a presidential inaugural ball in Washington, DC. With his wife Gail, the two of them had a top 40 band and for many years traveled together playing music in the 1980's all over the country.
Michael's ability to make people laugh was like no other. He was able to always see the best in the worst situations, and would always have a positive attitude towards everything. Among all of Michael's hobbies and accomplishments, what meant most to him was his love for his family. His greatest accomplishment in life was being a devoted husband, father, and friend, always being a man of his word. Michael's memory will never be forgotten and the impact he left on other's lives will be remembered forever.
Besides his beloved wife Gail of Bethany, Michael leaves behind to cherish his memory his father, John Lane of Middleburg, NY, his mother, Ann Lutinski and her husband "Larry" of North Port, FL, his two children, Samuel "Sam" M. Lane and his wife Jessica of Hamden, Claire Lane of Bethany, a brother, Timothy Lane and his wife Annemarie of Terryville, as well as many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 25 Maple Avenue, Beacon Falls, CT. Everyone is kindly asked to meet directly at church the morning of the funeral. Friends are welcome to gather before Mass from 11:00 -11:30 a.m. to pay their last respects to Michael at church. I remember Mike from BHT. He was a really nice person and we would always say hi to each other passing in the halls. I haven't seen him in many years. I am sorry to hear of his passing, truly another wonderful person has left this earth and has gone to heaven. To his wife and children I am very sorry for your loss. May he soar with the Angel's and May God comfort you at this very difficult time.

Gail and the entire Lane family, I was saddened to hear the news of Mike's passing. I am sorry that I couldn't attend the services. We grew up together in the streets of Bridgeport / Stratford area and eventually graduated from Bullard - Havens together. While I was rummaging through old photos for a death in my family, I came across our "Championship Team " photo from 1972 Park City Little League. I don't know if Mike ever told you about our "infamous play" that sealed the victory for us. Mike and I kept in touch since then and every time I ran into him, he replayed the scenario. I will definitely miss his company. God bless and rest in peace Mike.

Sending our most heartfelt condolences to the Lane family.
Michael was an exceptional person who gave so much to others. We are forever grateful to the love and kindness Michael showed to our son Sam. Sam was a student at Foundation school and Michael his most beloved teacher. They kept this friendship going - Michael taking him to motorcycle races, go carts or just visiting and having a good chat together. Michael will always be in our hearts and memories.

I didn´t know about Mikes accomplishments when it came to music. What I do know about Mike is everything thing that was said about his character is absolutely true. Mike was always there to help you make the right decision and you would think it was your idea.
