Michael Mastrone

MASTRONE Michael Mastrone, age 94, of Terryville, formally of Stratford, died Saturday, September 23,2006 at the West Hartford Health Care. He was the widower of Jane Lonkoski Mastrone. He was born on September 8, 1912 in Southington, a son of the late Charles and Assunta D'Angelo Mastrone. Mr. Mastrone was a aviation mechanic for Sikorsky Aircraft for 40 years before his retirement. He served his country proudly with the U.S. Coast Guard and was a 40 year member of the Stratford Baptist Church. A member of the Baldwin Center, he enjoyed woodworking on his bird houses and was a avid fisherman. He is survived by his loving children Gail Welwood of Terryville, and Kenneth Roberts and his wife, Nancy, of Stuart, Fla. Sisters, Viola Warrington and May Bennedetto both of Stratford. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and their spouses, Cynthia and James Gavin, Mark and Diana Sullivan, Kimberley and Paul Lee, Kenneth and Heather Roberts Jr., Kevin and Korie Roberts, Melissa and Daniel Vidaic, Andrew and Janine Gustin and Geoffrey Gustin; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, David Mastrone and Andrew Mastrone; and his sister, Eva Decker. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, September, 27, 2006 at 11 a.m. (directly) at the Stratford Baptist Church, with Pastor Dr. Robert Genevicz officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors in the Union Cemetery, Stratford. There will be no prior calling hours.
