Michael Merola Obituary
Michael Merola, age 61, of Shelton entered into rest on Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. Michael was born in Derby, son of the late Albert Merola Sr. and Mary (Santilli) Merola, and was a resident of Shelton for most of his life.
He was employed as a Composites worker for Sikorsky Aircraft for over 25 years. Michael was a skilled and accomplished golfer, winning many trophies. He played regularly in a league at Western Hills Golf Course in Waterbury. Michael also loved watching UConn Huskies Basketball.
He is the cherished brother of Barbara Tobias, Albert Merola, Jr., Lisa Krohne and her husband Ralph, and James Merola and his wife Michele, beloved uncle of Sara Fogarty and her husband Andrew, and great uncle of Fiona and Patrick Fogarty.
Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Sunday, September 24th from 2 to 5 p.m. On Monday his procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Shelton.

I am truly shocked & saddened to read of Mikes passing. I've known Mike his whole career at Sikorsky. We worked together for a short period years ago and always enjoyed bumping into him in the aisles over the years. He was quiet but smiling & friendly, always greeted with me with a Hi Ken and smile. We'd chat for a few while we walked a short distance, most recently about how long we'd both been there, then go on about our day.

My deepest sympathies and love lies with Michael´s family. He was a good neighbor and a good friend and I will miss him terribly. He was the first person I met here when I moved in five years ago and we became fast friends watching huskies games, football games, golf games, and just talking and laughing. I will miss him so much I already do if there´s anything I can do for his family. Please do not hesitate to reach out. Lisa has my number. My heart aches at the thought of not seeing him again I´m here for you guys. Many prayers coming your way.
