Norma Katz Obituary

KATZ Norma Mary Polizzo Katz, 77 was called home on October 22, 2011 so she may reunite with her eternal love and husband Milton. She is survived by her children; Annie and Keith Hathway, Terry O'Connor Teperman and Steven Teperman, Michele Katz and Barbara Hall, Dwayne and Robin Katz and Rachel Katz; and her grandchildren Sean O'Connor, Kenneth Mastrianni, Kelly and William Palmisano, and Kyle Katz. Norma was born in Bridgeport Connecticut and grew up in Stratford before moving to Shelton on a family farm with her parents and 13 brothers and sisters. During these years Norma studied to become an opera singer. She married her soul mate in 1951, and raised her family in Shelton where she was very involved in their lives and activities. A few of Norma's greatest attributes were instilling confidence in her children and always providing a listening ear to family and friends. She moved to Florida with her husband in 1978 to be able to enjoy summer weather year round and retirement. Norma lived for her family. Her whole life revolved around caring for them. She was happiest simply being surrounded by her loved ones. She loved cooking pasta fagioli and matzo ball soup and no one ever left her home hungry. She enjoyed going to the movies, was a loyal Atlanta Braves fan, and enjoyed years of family boating and bluefishing. Norma found tranquility in music. Her home was often filled with the classic sounds of her generation where she and Milton, the love of her life, could be found dancing in the kitchen. Her legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. A memorial service will be held on Monday October 24, 2011 at 3:30 pm at Beth Israel Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach, followed by a service on Thursday, October 27th, at 11am, at Abraham Green & Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield, Connecticut, where she will be laid to rest. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations may be made to the American Heart Society.

To all: So sorry to see this. Happy we were able to visit with her in Delray a few years ago and catch up. So many good Shelton memories of her and Milt and the Katz "kids" - Norma helping with the birth of Coco's puppies, and rescuing my young cousin Donna (who now has grown twins of her own) when she babysat for Carla and Ken, and Ken had a meltdown - are only two. Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. Alan and Diana Supersano
