Philip Carrubba Obituary

Philip Carrubba
Philip Carrubba, age 91, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Gilda (Grasso) Carrubba. Born in Bridgeport on October 12, 1932, he was the son of the late Paul and Nell (Marino) Carrubba. Mr. Carrubba earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Bridgeport. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, prior to his discharge in 1956. He later began a long career as the owner and president of Carrubba Incorporated, a fragrance manufacturer located locally. He loved music and was an accomplished pianist. As a young man, he played in a popular local band and, in retirement, Mr. Carrubba volunteered at local hospitals and care facilities, entertaining the staff and residences with piano tunes. His family will miss the way he entertained them at home with his after-dinner selections. He was an avid golfer and loved to travel. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife, Gilda, of 68 years, other survivors include his devoted children, Duane Michael Carrubba of Monroe, Lisa Matson and her husband Edward of Stratford and Elizabeth Riotto and her husband Christopher of Orange, his cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Justin and Victoria Carrubba, and Emily and Ryan Riotto, his sister, Carol Linda Sementilli and her husband Philip of Trumbull, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Philip C. Carrubba.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., meeting directly in Christ the King Church, 4700 Madison Ave., Trumbull. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe. There are no calling hours. Arrangements by the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, Trumbull. St Vincent´s Short Stay

July 15, 2024

Phil was a volunteer in St Vincents Short Stay Center for years and he was a welcome addition to our staff. He was always pleasant and hardworking and his hard work made our job easier. We are so grateful for his service to our unit and our hospital and we know he´ll rest in peace for his work is done.

Gilda and Family.
I was so sad to learn of Phil´s passing. I remember your visits to my parents home and Phil would always bring perfume samples for me and my sister Nancy. Such a treat for two young girls.
May he rest in peace and his memory be eternal

Gilda and family - many years since I heard ur name. I went to ur wedding with my parents and recall how awe struck I was by the beautiful couple you and Phil made. I am very sorry for your loss but have fond memories of you both as well as your father Emil and mom.
