Rachel Galya
Rachel Galya passed away peacefully in her home on Dec. 23, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Elisabetta and Erminio Siano.
Rachel was born in Italy on December 24, 1938, but lived most of her life in Bridgeport, CT where she was an active member of St. Margaret's Shrine. Rachel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to travel and read and was an avid gardener who was recognized for her commitment to the beautification of Bridgeport. Rachel was also a talented seamstress and especially enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.
She is survived by beloved husband of 60 years, Raymond E. Galya of Virginia Beach, VA.; daughters, Lisa Morell of Bridgeport, CT, Catherine Fischetti (Thomas) of Chesapeake, VA, Rachel Brust (Robert) of Virginia Beach, VA; son, Frank Galya (Michaela) of Christiansburg, VA; and brothers, Michael (Marie) and Anthony (Sue) Siano; grandchildren, Thomas (Terri), Rachel (Joseph), Anthony (Jill) and Bobby and great grandchildren, Mark, Mya, Max, Penelope, and Lucy.
A special thanks goes out to the hospice team especially Rae, Angela, Chaplain Cheryl and Suki as well as caregivers Andrea, Jo, Mary, Lisa and Alice.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Virginia Beach. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
