Richard Cleary Obituary

CLEARY Richard T. Cleary, age 61 of Oakville, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 13, 2008 in his home with his beloved wife, Helen, at his bedside. Born in Bridgeport, October 8, 1947, son of the late Richard W. and Dorothy E. Thomas Cleary, he was a lifelong area resident, Rich and Helen moved to Oakville six years ago and retired from the Southern Connecticut Gas Co after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Men's Auxiliary of Raymond Gold-back VFW Post 9460, and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. In addition to his beloved wife Helen, he is survived by a son, Shawn Cleary of Rockledge, Fla.; a brother, Scott Cleary of Sandy Hook; a sister, Gail DuBoys of Milford; three step-children, Arvid and Nils Ericson of Fairfield, and Christina Hansen and her husband, Jonathan of Pennsylvania; four cherished grandchildren, Liam, Jacob and Katie Hansen and Lars Atwell; two nieces, Danya and Sara DuBoys; and a nephew, Matthew Duboys and his wife, Maureen. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to VITAS Hospice, 1579 Straits Turnpike, Suite C, Middlebury, CT 06760.
